We’ve incorporated Citizen Logistics as a “Common Good Corporation”. What does that
mean? It means we can take investment and grow rapidly without compromising our values. Our dedication to working toward the common good —not just the good of shareholders —is written into our corporate DNA.
The corporation has a binding, eternal contract with an overseeing nonprofit. One of the terms of this contract is that we will always devote resources to the common good, and that as our return to investors increases, the percentage of attention we place on world- and community-oriented projects must increase as well.
We also pledge to maintain the cornerstones of our brand, including our dedication to DIY fun and face-to-face community. Should we shirk on any of these responsibilities, we stand to lose key assets to the overseeing nonprofit.
For most corporations, the primary purpose is to generate a return for shareholders. For Citizen Logistics, positive experience and global conviviality ARE the bottom line.
